County Fermanagh has a history of community development activity with over 500 voluntary and community groups. The co-ordination of the Community and voluntary sector takes place at the following levels:
Fermanagh District Council has as one of its objectives to support local community development and community relations activities leading to improved quality of life, improved level of services and increased levels of trust within and between communities.
Fermanagh Trust, Fermanagh's Community Foundation, is dedicated to creating a partnership of doners, non-profit making organisations and the community, to find solutions to the pressing community needs in Fermanagh.
Fermanagh Rural Community Network has as its mission statement to provide an effective voice for and support to rural communities, particularly those who are most disadvantaged.
The Citizen's Advice Bureau (CAB) in Fermanagh provides an advice service, which is flexible and responsive to the needs of communities and individuals. Advice is free, confidential, impartial and available to everybody regardless of race, sex, belief or disability.
The Rural Community Network (RCN) is a voluntary organisation established by local community organisations to articulate the voice of rural communities on issues relating to poverty, disadvantage and equality. RCN is a registered charity, core funded by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development with the remainder of its resources coming from charitable trusts, membership fees and project income.
Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action(NICVA) is the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action, the representative body for voluntary, community and charitable groups in Northern Ireland. As well as representing the sector's interests in Northern Ireland, NICVA provides over 1100 members member organisations with information, advice and training on a wide range of issues.
