Funding Role: The mission of The Ireland Funds is to be the largest worldwide network of people of Irish ancestry and friends of Ireland dedicated to raising funds to support programs of peace and reconciliation, arts and culture, education and community development.
Budget: In 2004 the average award was €5,000. The maximum award available is €30,000. There is no minimum award.
Policy: The Ireland Funds support projects in the following areas: Arts and Culture; Community Development; Education; Peace and Reconciliation.
Arts and Culture: The Fund wishes to support excellence and innovation in arts activities within communities across the island and especially projects which make the arts more accessible to the wider community. Particular focus on: arts applied in settings of socio-economic disadvantage; educational or health settings; promoting tolerance and reconciliation.
Community Development: The Ireland Funds are seeking ways to promote an inclusive and integrated society and to ensure that regeneration of marginalised urban and rural communities. The Fund sees the following areas as priorities: support of rural development initiatives; promotion of social inclusion; promotion of tolerance and diversity.
Education: The Fund will focus on programmes promoting and supporting access and progression from second level to third level; lifelong learning; tolerance through education.
Peace and Reconciliation: The Ireland Funds are seeking to support communities in Northern Ireland working together and towards a shared future. The skills and culture of negotiation and compromise need to be honed politically and organisationally with and between communities. To this end, programmes supporting the following areas have been prioritised for assistance: citizenship and participation; a greater understanding of cultural identity with and between communities; social inclusion; support for those affected by the troubles.
Applications: Applications are accepted from 1 November - 31 January. Do not enclose any additional information with your applications. Projects will be notified of their success, or otherwise, by letter in July 2006.

Exclusions: General administration costs of national organisations; general appeals, medical expenses, purchase of buildings or land, purchase of vehicles, purchase of computers, salaries, travel or transports.
