Funding Role: The National Disability Authority, on behalf of the State, promotes and helps secure the rights of people with disabilities.

Budget: Grants of up to €10,000 are available for research to be completed in 2006.

Policy: The NDA invites applications for grants to conduct research on disability under the Research Promotion Scheme. Criteria for funding include: quality of research proposal; value of the research in relation to informing policy or services for people with disabilities; the capacity to manage the project and supervise quality control, assessed on the evidence provided in the application form.

Disability group and community and voluntary groups working on disability issues are eligible to make applications as well as institutions or individual researchers working in collaboration with people with disabilities; the application must however, be led by a disability group.

Applications: Applications should be submitted by email to: cloftus@wrc.ie; in addition, four hard copies should be returned to: Research Promotion Scheme 2006, WRCsec, Strand House, 22 Great Strand Street, D1. Completed applications should be sent to WRC Social andEconomic Consultants and not the NDA.

Cross-Border Relevance

Cross-border research projects are encouraged and will be considered for funding.
