Funding Role: This Trust was established in 1965 for general charitable purposes. The present policy of the Trust is to give special consideration to charitable projects and purposes in Northern Ireland of a cultural or artistic nature but claims of other charitable projects are also considered.
Budget: £120,000 per annum approximately of which about one-third is only available to a limited number of heritage bodies.
Policy: General charitable purposes in Ireland as a whole but principally in Northern Ireland, with a particular interest in cultural and artistic objectives. No time limits have generally been set on grants. The Trust has on occasions given grant assistance over period of 2-3 years but in general tries not to become involve in commitments of a long term nature. To avoid delays in considering applications the Trust advisers require a copy of the most recent financial accounts and the Inland Revenue Charities Division reference number with the application.
Applications: No formal application forms. Applicants should submit 3 copies of the following: concise description of proposed project; a recent statement of accounts; a copy of the constitution; details of tax and legal or charitable status; a copy of latest annual report; a list of committee officers; information on other sources of finance; a contact address and phone number.
Closing Date: Applications considered at the beginning of each month.
Exclusions: It is most unlikely that applications from individuals wishing to undertake voluntary services or further education will be successful.
Cross-Border Relevance
The fund will consider cross-border projects, particularly those which meet the criteria of the charitable projects and purposes of a cultural or artistic nature.
