Funding Role: The Community Foundation is an independent grant making organisation which was established in 1979. Its aim is to drive social change by tackling poverty, exclusion and social injustice, through funding and supporting community based action and influencing policy development.
The Community Foundation is committed to the support of community and social action throughout Northern Ireland and to working in partnership with appropriate organisations in the Republic of Ireland.
The Social Justice Initiatives Fund which was established in 2000 to encourage local community and voluntary groups to become involved in peace-building through reflection, discussion and action around issues relating to social justice, equality and human rights. The programme is funded by the Barings Foundation, The Northern Ireland Fund for Reconciliation and Save the Children.
Budget: The Fund has a budget of £50,000 for grants of between £1,000 - £5,000.
Policy: This fund is a programme of small grants to encourage community and voluntary groups to become involved in action, discussion and reflection around issues relating to social justice, equality and human rights.
Cross-Border Relevance
Cross-border projects will be considered for funding.
